Anthrax spores enter the epidermis

Diagram showing how anthrax spores can enter the body through a wound in the skin

The spore can be seen entering through a break in the skin, and then being taken up by a resident macrophage. Red blood cells can be seen in the cross sections of the cappilaries. The various layers of the epidermis are also visible.
